Whangamata Ocean Sports Club

WOSC has grown from a small group of local boatmen into one of the most active sport-fishing clubs on the Coromandel coast.

Founded on the coast

The club began in 1958 in a garage, when local boat owners came together to improve wharf and harbour facilities. Through working bees, fundraising, and persistence, members built the infrastructure themselves. That hard work laid the foundations for what WOSC is today.

More than just fishing

Today, the club is a 600sqm waterfront hub. It's home to tournaments, dining, events, and a relaxed space for members and visitors. Whether you're here to compete or unwind, it's a place people keep coming back to.

Strong sport-fishing culture

WOSC is affiliated with NZSFC and IGFA, with a proud record of competitive sport fishing. Members compete year-round across tournaments, club days, and major events, including award-winning performances at national level.
