Bream Bay Charters - Fishing Aboard SUMO

Bream Bay Charters runs out of Marsden Cove Marina aboard SUMO, a 14m purpose-built charter boat that comfortably takes up to 16 anglers and cruises at 13-18 knots to maximise time on the fishing grounds. There's a second pickup point available at McLeod's Bay wharf.

Trips on Offer

• Day Trips to the Hen & Chicken Islands - the most popular trip, around 50 minutes each way, open to private charters or individual/casual anglers joining a group
• Evening Trips to Bream Head or the Chicken Islands - a relaxed way to fish into a summer sunset, great for families or those short on time
• Half-Day Trips to Bream Head or the Chickens
• Afternoon/Evening Trips - fishing through to dark to target the change-of-light bite
• Moko Hinau Islands Day Trips - a big 10-hour day trip 2-2.5 hours from Marsden Cove, chasing snapper, trevally, kahawai, terakihi and livebait kingfish
• Deep Water Hapuka Day Trips - an 11-hour trip out to the deep reefs for hapuka, terakihi, golden snapper and jigged kingfish
• Moko Hinau Overnight - multi-day trips with onboard accommodation for 2-8, targeting bigger snapper, kingfish, sharks and hapuka, with big game trolling available January-May
• Coastal Multi-Day Tours - a minimum 3-day trip tailored around your group and the weather, ranging as far as Whangamumu, Whangaruru, or out to Little Barrier and Great Barrier Islands

Private group charters and individual/casual bookings are both available across most trips. Quality hire rods and bait can be arranged in advance, or bring your own gear.

Target Species

Snapper, trevally, kingfish, kahawai, tuna, hapuka, terakihi, john dory, marlin and sharks - with a strong catch record including snapper to 15.2kg and kingfish to 38kg.
